ONE-TO-ONE SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

Although we use the term “one to one,” it is important to emphasize that spiritual direction includes God. Our joy in serving as your spiritual companion is to “listen behind the listening.” As we listen to your shared story, we first listen to what God is whispering to us as you are speaking. We may offer feedback, ask a searching or clarifying question, or perhaps suggest spiritual tools to assist you on your journey. Most important of all, we listen to God as we listen to you.
In one to one conversation, we help discern where God is moving in your sacred life journey. Anything and everything can be a topic for spiritual direction. The fruit of spiritual direction may begin during a one to one session (Generally between 40-50 minutes long.) The growth of the fruit however happensbetweenthe sessions as the directee spends time with God, moving deeper into the questions, discernment or the healing etc. Spiritual direction sessions usually occur once a month, although in times of crisis, they may be more frequent. Everything you share in a spiritual direction session is confidential unless someone is hurting you, you are hurting someone else or plan to hurt yourself.
Investing in your spiritual life will be one of the best investments you can make. Therefore, each spiritual director charges a fee. A sliding scale may be an option for you as needed. Please talk to your individual spiritual director if you have questions or concerns about payment options.
The first spiritual direction session is generally free of charge as this is a discernment time for both the directee and the director. The first session is a time for boththe director and directee to discern whether God is calling them to walk this journey together.

ON-LINE SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
One to one spiritual direction is usually in person. Today however, with technological assistance, spiritual direction takes place from a distance. Online spiritual direction is ideally through Skype, Zoom, Facetime or other technological means. It can also take place on the phone, although seeing the other person is preferable in online spiritual direction. You and your spiritual director will discuss and arrange your meeting details.
Generally, sessions are once a month, although in times of crisis, they may be more frequent. The sessions will last between 40-50 minutes. Your session may last longer, depending upon Holy Spirit and your spiritual director. Your online session is private and spiritual directors at Holy Listeningwill not meet with any directee in a public space where other people could overhear the conversation. Like one to one spiritual direction, this conversation is between God, you and the spiritual director only. Please note that everything you share in a spiritual direction session is confidential unless someone is hurting you, you are hurting someone else or plan to hurt yourself.
